On July 9, six members of Broadway Church of Christ left Taylor County for eight days of missionary and ministry work in the Baja region of Mexico.

The group consisted of Jim and Tammie Collins, Margie Huffman, Susan Ryan and Steve and Patty Reynolds.

They flew to San Diego, Calif., where they met with other Christians in their faith from Greenville, Ky., Nashville, Tenn., and Huntsville, Ala. The group took chartered buses to Ensenada, Mexico, and from there they continued south on Baja Mission buses, vans and trucks to San Quintin, Mexico.

Group members worked with local Christians in spreading the gospel of Jesus using a variety of ministries, love and encouragement through medical clinics, children's ministry, teaching, preaching and construction.

The campaign was successful with four baptisms, two restorations and several new people contacted. The group also worked one day in San Vicente and Rancho Garcia, a migrant worker ranch.

They returned home on July 18.

Broadway Church of Christ's congregation supported the mission by sending supplies and financing the trip.
