Seventeen local youth created savings banks for the third annual Kentucky Saves piggy bank pageant.

Taylor County Bank provided gift cards for first-, second- and third-place winners for high school students. Winners were Chloe Cox, Caleb Wiggington and Shalyn Thompson.

Community Trust awarded gift cards to Sara Courtwright, first place, and John Courtwright, second place, in grades seven and eight.

Forcht Bank gave gift cards to Seth Cowherd, first place, Andrea Myers, second place, and Dawson Cole, third place, in the fifth- and sixth-grade categories.

Citizens Bank and Trust Co. and Fort Knox Federal Credit Union each gave a gift card for winners in the kindergarten through second-grade and third- and fourth-grade categories. Winners were Autumn Brockman and Aleah Schwab.

Sara Courtwright was chosen county winner and will compete in the district contest. If her shoe bank is selected at that level, she will win $250 and her bank will be on exhibit in Frankfort in February for America Saves Week.

The purpose of the pageant is to encourage creativity and the habit of saving.
