Local family wins forest steward award

Harry and Karen Pelle of Taylor County received the Outstanding Kentucky Forest Steward Award.

James McDaniel, forester with the Kentucky Division of Forestry, and assistant director Steve Kull made the presentation.

The Pelles were also the Central Region winner. Their more than 1,500 acre farm is located in Taylor County.

The award was presented during the annual Kentucky Association of Conservation Districts meeting in Louisville.
