Lions Club installs new officers

The Campbellsville Lions Club recently installed new officers for the 2012-2013 year.

Vice District Governor Jenny West of Monticello presided over the ceremony, which was at the Community Center.

New officers include Joseph Jones, tail twister; Sarah Hubbard, assistant treasurer; Wanda Sapp, second vice president; Shelia Wethington, president; Cheryl Williams, treasurer; Jenny West, vice district governor; Helen Underwood, assistant treasurer; Lisa Cox, vice president; Ottis Wright, director; Grayling Cox, vice president; Don James, director; Wayne Sapp, director; Samuel Underwood, membership chairman, Mel Gilbert, secretary; Paul Pullen, lion tamer; Ricky Sparkman, director; and Kenneth Pierce, director.

The club was chartered in 1945 as a member of The International Association of Lions Clubs, the world's largest service organization.

The Lions have served Taylor County, its district, the state and around the world by supporting the needy with eye conservation, exams, eye glasses and recycling used eye glasses to third world countries.

The Lions also serve the Boy and Girl Scouts, Lions Camp Crescendo and, locally, the Taylor County Ministerial Association Food Pantry, Green River Ministries, Taylor County Distinguished Young Women and the Central Kentucky Arts Series.

The club also helps qualified people who are in need of eye-related disease treatment and surgery.
