Area senior citizens can take classes in Christian beliefs, U.S. history and world civilization this spring through the Senior Scholars program at Lindsey Wilson College.

The select classes are free to senior citizens. There is no cost for the classes, but participants must pay for books or any other class fees. Spring classes begin Tuesday, Jan. 22.

"This is a small way for Lindsey Wilson to show its appreciation to the area's senior citizens," said Lindsey Wilson President William T. Luckey Jr. "So many of our senior citizens volunteer with numerous groups, churches and civic organizations, and this program is an opportunity for them to enjoy a class and be among college students."

The Senior Scholars courses offered this spring are:

- "Christian Beliefs": 10:30 to 11:20 a.m. ET on Monday, Wednesday and Friday; or 10:30 to 11:45 a.m. ET on Tuesday and Thursday.

- "U.S. History": 12:30 p.m. to 1:20 p.m. ET on Monday, Wednesday and Friday; or 3 to 3:50 p.m. ET on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

- "World Civilization": 12:30 p.m. to 1:20 ET on Monday, Wednesday and Friday; noon to 1:15 p.m. ET on Tuesday and Thursday.
