The late Dr. Bobby Himes honored

The late Dr. Bobby Himes was honored posthumously during Kentucky Weslelyan College's annual alumni awards celebration on Friday, Sept. 26 at the country club in Owensboro.

Following the meal, a musical performance was given by Dr. Diane Earle and Alfred Abel.

KWC President Dr. Cheryl D. King presented the awards.

Himes' daughter, Renee Abell, accepted the Alumni Achievement Award on behalf of her father. Himes died on June 28.

Commenced in 1999, this award recognizes alumni who have achieved a level of eminence within their professional field of endeavor gaining distinction for themselves and/or Kentucky Wesleyan. Recipients must be recognized by their peers for achievement at the state, national and/or international level, have evidence of merit in their profession and/or community involvement and be alumni of the college who have graduated more than five years ago.

Himes graduated from Kentucky Wesleyan College in 1959 and retired as professor at Campbellsville University after 40 years of teaching.
