Lady Tigers, LWC men triumph in Hwy 55 battle

CU teams have home twinbills on Thursday and Saturday

Campbellsville University’s women used a strong second half to down Lindsey Wilson College while the LWC men held off CU to take the nightcap in a Mid-South Conference basketball doubleheader on Thursday night in Columbia.
Coach Ginger Colvin’s Lady Tigers improved to 11-1 by out-scoring the Lady Raiders 43-13 in the second half, breaking away from a 32-32 half-time tie.
Reserves paced the way for the CU women as Angie Lawrence, who had missed several games, hit five three-pointers and had 19 points, Lindsey Burd had a double-double (18 points, 12 rebounds) and LeeAnn Grider dished out 10 assists.
The CU used a late run to creep within a point for Lindsey Wilson, but could not overcome the Blue Raiders’ 34-39 free-throw shooting, 21-23 in the second half.
Darius Clement led five Tigers in double figures with 16 points while Jordan Myers added 14, Quin Richardson 13, Eric Gaines 11 and Elliott Young 10.
The Campbellsville squads played at Cumberland (Tenn.) University on Saturday and will host Georgetown College on Thursday and University of the Cumberlands on Saturday in  the Powell Athletic Center.
