Marion County tallied 17 of the game’s first 18 points and rolled past Taylor County’s Lady Cardinals 69-29 on Friday night.
The Lady Knights (22-4 overall with the only Kentucky loss to Louisville Manual in the LIT finals a week ago) used 13 points from Logan Powell and 11 by Kyvin Goodin-Rogers to build a 24-7 first-quarter cushion.
Powell finished with 25 points while Goodin-Rogers added 18 for Marion County, which played without junior all-stater Makayla Epps, who was sitting out the first of two games to rest an aching knee.
Post players Rachel Riggs and Kassie Miller led the Lady Cardinals (5-14) with eight and six points, respectively.
Taylor County, which played Boyle County over the weekend, will visit Washington County on Tuesday and LaRue County on Friday in girl/boy doubleheaders.
The Lady Cardinals are the No. 3 seed in the 20th District Tournament and will play Adair County in a first-round elimination game on Tuesday, Feb. 21 at TCHS. Marion County faces No. 4-seed Campbellsville in the 20th District Tournament opener.
