Lady Eagles notch second season win

McMahan leads three double-digit scorers in 54-51 win over McCreary Central

Coming off a 29-point road loss to Pulaski County on Monday, Campbellsville High School’s Lady Eagles picked up their second win of the season 54-51 over visiting McCreary Central on Tuesday night in Paul J. Coop Gymnasium.
Caroline McMahan paced coach Richard Dooley’s outfit with 18 points while Nena Barnett collected 16 (plus four assists) and Brenna Wethington had 10 points, including two three-pointers, and nine rebounds.
The Lady Eagles trailed 10-9 after the first quarter and 26-24 at intermission before taking the last two frames 14-13 and 16-12.
McCreary Central sophomore Kaylee Cotton led all scorers with 29 points, all rebounders with 12 and played all 32 minutes.
Campbellsville hosts Fort Knox tonight before visiting Marion County tomorrow (6:30) in the first half of a girl/boy doubleheader.
The Lady Eagles begin play in the Touchstone Energy Fifth Region All “A” Classic on Monday at Caverna. The semi-finals and championship are scheduled for Washington County.

Pulaski County used a 26-8 start to roll past the Lady Eagles on Monday in Somerset.
Nena Barnett and Brenna Wethington led CHS with 12 and 11 points, respectively.
