Campbellsville High School’s Lady Eagles picked up victory No. 1 on the softball diamond on Tuesday night with an 8-4 road win at Monroe County.
The Lady Eagles took a 1-0 lead in the first when Tiffany Slone walked, stole second base and came in on Jessie Cash’s double.
CHS went ahead 3-0 in the second when Melanie Brockman walked, Mary Brower singled and Brenna Wethington reached on an error before Destiny Wilson reached on a fielder’s choice and Slone and Hannah Taylor walked.
Monroe County sliced its deficit to 3-2 in the third before the Lady Eagles made it 5-2 in the fourth with Taylor and Cash having RBI singles.
The Lady Falcons pushed across a run in the fourth, but Campbellsville made it 7-3 in the fifth on singles by Brockman and Wilson and a double by Slone.
After Monroe County made it 7-4 in the fifth, the Lady Eagles plated the game’s final run in the seventh on a single by Wethington and Wilson’s double.
Wilson, Slone and Cash had two-hit games for CHS and Slone also had three walks for a perfect 5-5 game.
Taylor struck out seven and walked only two to record the pitching triumph.
The Lady Eagles head to Florida this week for the Beach Bash.
