Lady Eagles go 3-2 on Florida trip

Campbellsville High School's Lady Eagles went 3-2 on their spring trip to the Sunshine State last week.

Coach Dale Estes' team bested Corbin 11-7 in the first game on April 5 as Amber Gamboa went 3-5 and Tiffany Slone 2-4.

Slone had three runs batted in while Gamboa, Ashley Kessinger and Hannah Taylor had two apiece.

Kessinger, Taylor, Danielle Morris, Ashley Bates and Alex Davis also hit safely.

On April 6, CHS fell 11-5 to Wayne, Ohio despite two-hit performances from Taylor and Megan Shively. Gamboa, Kessinger and Bates accounted for the other Lady Eagle hits.

Campbellsville run-ruled Xenia on April 7 with Slone getting three RBI and Morris and Taylor two apiece.

Gamboa and Shively had three hits each with Morris, Kessinger, Bates and Slone having two apiece.

Gamboa (4 1/3 innings) got her third win of the season with relief help from Morris (2 2/3).

The Lady Eagles edged Madison Southern 11-10 on April 9 with Taylor and Gamboa getting three RBI each and Davis two.

Morris and Shively had two-hit outings.

Warren East clipped Campbellsville 4-1 on April 9 despite some excellent pitching from Taylor, a complete-game effort while allowing only four hits and one walk and striking out four.

Shively had two hits for the Lady Eagles while Gamboa, Davis and Destiny Wilson had one apiece.

Campbellsville (5-3) was scheduled to open district play yesterday at Adair County.
