Lady Dragons pull away from Taylor 70-40

17-1 second-half spurt sends Green County past Lady Cardinals

Green County’s Lady Dragons used a 15-1, third-quarter run to pull away from the home-standing Taylor County Lady Cardinals 70-40 on Thursday night.
The Lady Cardinals had fought to within 35-27 after Green County had built leads of 7-0 and 30-14.
A pair of Madison Burress’ buckets highlighted Taylor County’s third-quarter spurt after Rachel Shoemaker had five of her eight first-half points in the second quarter.
Lady Dragon senior Kayla Bale kept Green County on top with a 12-point second quarter and nine more in the third period to finish with a game-high 26 points while freshman reserve center Whitney Perian added 12. Green County improves to 4-1 with only a district loss at Caverna.
Shoemaker led Taylor County with 10 points while Burress added eight.
The Lady Cards (2-3) host the Taylor County Holiday Classic on Friday and Saturday with Hart County, Estill County and Pulaski County in the round-robin.
