Lady Cards roll to fifth straight win

TC girls roll past CHS 73-24.

Taylor County’s Lady Cardinals reeled off their fifth win in the first eight days of the high school hoop season by cruising past Campbellsville 73-24 on Tuesday night in Paul J. Coop Gymnasium.
The Lady Cardinals (5-0), who won three games in Brandenburg over the weekend, trailed only 2-0 on Brittany Vaught’s basket 15 seconds into the contest.
However, Hope Wigginton had nine of her game-high 21 points and Alanna Claywell connected on four of her 12 points off the bench and the rout was on.
Claywell added a pair of second-quarter three-pointers, fellow senior Elizabeth Thomas four straight third-quarter hoops and eighth-grader Haley Wright nine second-half points for coach Jenny Jessie’s Lady Cards.
Vaught, Heather Watson and Tiffany Slone had eight points apiece to account for Campbellsville’s total.
The Lady Eagles host Bardstown on Saturday while Taylor County entertains Adair County in a girl/boy doubleheader beginning at 6:30 Friday.

Lady Eagles post first
seasonal win at Whitefield
Coach Cameron Jackson’s Lady Eagles opened the season with a 50-30 home loss to Caverna on Nov. 30 before besting Whitefield Academy on the road Saturday 46-41.
Heather Watson had 17 points in the Caverna loss while Brittany Vaught (16) and Tiffany Slone (15) combined for 31 in the road triumph.

Lady Cardinals win three tilts at Meade County
Taylor County’s girls defeated Meade County, Edmonson County and Central Hardin for victories two through four.
Mercedes Cox (23) and Hope Wigginton (17) teamed up for 40 vs. Meade County while Elizabeth Thomas had 20 vs. Edmonson County and Wigginton and Cox added 13 and 12, respectively.
Cox had 24 and Wigginton 13 against Fifth Region foe Central Hardin.
