Just like their previous match-up at Taylor County, Campbellsville’s Lady Eagles led for three-plus quarters before the Lady Cardinals from Taylor County used a strong, late fourth frame to pull away for a 54-49 victory on Friday night at CHS.
The Lady Eagles (5-11) led by nine at the first-quarter stop on the strong play of junior Brittany Vaught and senior Tiffany Slone and did not lose the lead until early in the third quarter on Shelby Johnson’s jumper. Campbellsville came back from a five-point deficit and led 42-40 on Slone’s two free throws with 3:28 left in the tilt.
However, the Lady Cards (5-6) tallied 11 straight points, five coming on passes from Haley Wright to Shelby Carney and never relinquished the lead.
