Adair County’s Lady Indians broke away from a 35-35 deadlock with an 18-0 run to upend Taylor County 67-50 in the 20th District Tournament on Wednesday night.
Taylor County held a 19-11 lead early in the second quarter on Hannah Howard’s third three-pointer. But, Adair County tallied 16 of the next 18 points and never trailed again. However, the Lady Cardinals did tie the game at 33-33 and 35-35 before the 18-0 blitz by the Lady Indians.
Taylor County stayed close behind the play of senior Rachel Riggs and freshman Haley Wright before the visitors tallied the final 10 points of the third quarter and the first eight of the final frame.
Riggs and Wright led the Lady Cardinals (6-18) with 21 and 16 points, respectively, while Mercedes Cox (26), Kassidi Taylor (19) and Katie Keltner (14) paced Adair County.
