TCHS girls improve to 7-1 with road win.

By Bobby Brockman

Taylor County scored 14 straight second-quarter points and never looked back in posting a 62-48 road victory over Green County on Friday night.
The Lady Cardinals (7-1) led 11-3 early before the Lady Dragons tallied 10 straight points to lead 12-11 early in the second frame.
However, Elizabeth Thomas’ lane basket started TCHS’ run and Hope Wigginton followed with a pair of three-point plays — a basket and a hoop and a free throw — before Alanna Claywell’s trey, a Mercedes Cox base-line jumper and Haley Wright free throw increased the Lady Card lead to 25-12.
Wigginton paced Taylor County with 18 points while Claywell contributed 16, including four three-pointers, Cox 15 and Thomas nine.
Sophomore Rachel Marr led the Lady Dragons (1-6) with 13 points.
Taylor County is idle until beginning play in the four-day Kentucky Army National Guard Titan Christmas Clash at Mercer County on Monday, Dec. 27. The Lady Cards play Wayne County in first-round action and will  meet the Lexington Catholic/St. Henry winner or loser on Tuesday, Dec. 28.
