Taylor County’s Lady Cardinals took advantage of a couple of Campbellsville miscues to open 20th District regular-season softball play with a 2-0 victory over Campbellsville at Clark Field on Monday.
The Lady Cards (12-2) used Haley Wright’s one-out single to left to plate Cheyenne Moran in the first.
Shelby Carney’s RBI hit in the third plated Becca Orberson in the third for an insurance run for starting pitcher Hannah Howard, who struck out seven and scattered four Lady Eagle safeties — two by losing pitcher Paige Dabney and one each by Cassie Squires and Masi Wilson. Campbellsville is now 10-6.
Taylor County’s other safeties came from Moran, MaKayla Sabo, Madison Burress and Howard.
