Taylor County’s Lady Cardinals tallied five unearned runs in the fourth inning and defeated Adair County 7-1 in the 20th District Softball Tournament on Tuesday at Clark Field.
The Lady Indians had taken a 1-0 lead in the top of the frame on a single by Hailey McBeath and a double by pitcher Meridith Corbin.
However, Taylor County started its rally with a single by Hannah Milby and after an error and a fielder’s choice, in which no outs were recorded, another miscue tied the score. After an out, Becca Orberson’s bloop single plated two runs and Cheyenne Moran singled to reload the bases before a two-run single to left by Courtney Hunt.
The Lady Cardinals (28-8) added two more turns in the fifth on singles by Haley Franklin, Kaylin Hughes and Hannah Howard.
Milby and Shelby Carney had two-hit games for TCHS while Corbin had two for Adair County (22-11).
The Lady Cardinals’ opponent in yesterday’s championship game was Marion County (22-8), who tallied several unearned runs in an eight-run fifth to defeat Campbellsville 10-0.
Tiffany Slone had a single and double for the Lady Eagles (7-28) while Amythyst McColley singled.
