Kimberland-led Lady Tigers sprint past Cumberland 70-54

Campbellsville U. women gain sole possession of first in Mid-South Conference

Daizah Kimberland tallied fist-half points to help Campbellsville University to a 45-21 half-time cushion and coach Ginger Colvin’s Lady Tigers cruised to a 70-54 triumph in the Powell Athletic Center on Saturday afternoon.
For the second time during the week, the Lady Tigers were able to use all eligible players and most of them for at least five minutes.
Kimberland finished with 19 points while Caroline Allen, who a pair of three-point shots, finished with 10.
Kimberland and Lindsey Burd had seven rebounds apiece as the Lady Tigers won the board battle 49-24.
Despite scoring only a basket, senior point guard Katie Allen dished out eight assists.
The victory improved the Campbellsville ledger to 20-2 overall and 10-1 in the Mid-South Conference.
The two closest rivals to CU — Georgetown and Cumberlands — each lost road tilts to Shawnee State and Rio Grande, respectively.
The No. 5-ranked Lady Tigers are on the road this week — Thursday at No. 23 University of the Cumberlands and Saturday at No. 8 Georgetown College.
