Kids Outdoor Day thanks

-A A +A

On behalf of all of the volunteers, participants and sponsors, I would like to extend a huge thank you to all who made this year's event possible. Once again we had a wonderful day outside in the great outdoors enjoying the beautiful resources that God has given us.
This year was a huge success with over 1,000 kids in attendance. Kids from all across the state (29 counties represented) and some from neighboring states (Indiana, Ohio and Texas) got the chance to enjoy activities such as archery, pellet rifle, boating, swimming, canoeing and kayaking, trap shooting, 22 rifle shooting, black powder shooting, activities with the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, face painting, outdoor education with the Kentucky Department of Fish & Wildlife, fire safety, fishing and demonstrations of radio control aircraft.
This years sponsors were: Green River Lake State Park, Tim Horton's Camp Kentahten, Amazon.com, Walmart, White Oil Co., The Grim Reapers Motorcycle Club, Creations Sportswear, Frito-Lay, Maximum Energy Development, Carhart, Jackie and Sheila Wethington, Taylor County Bank, Triple P Construction, Overhead Door, Dr. Kenneth DeSimone, Unified Electric, The League of Kentucky Sportsmen, S&C Sales Mobile Home Supply, Crazy Horse Archery & Tackle, Kid Wise Amusements, Purcell's Business Products, Lake Cumberland Community Action Agency, Home City Ice, Little Debbie, Taylor County Fiscal Court, Emerald Isle Marina, Green River Marina, Advanced Sign Works, Campbellsville Rotary Club, Taylor County Chiropractic, Stott's Construction, Dr. James Angel, United Citizens Bank and Community Trust Bank.
Special thanks to all of the volunteers who put in lots of hard work and long hours to make this event special for the kids. One volunteer who I would like to give a little special recognition to is Taylor County Judge/Executive Eddie Rogers. Rogers has given his time to volunteer for this event every year since becoming our county judge/executive; he is always one of the first volunteers there and usually one of the last to leave at the day's end.
Kids Outdoor Day 2011 will be held on the first Saturday in June at Green River Lake State Park and Tim Horton's Camp Kentahten. We hope to see you there.
