Kehoe qualifies for U.S. Women's Amateur

Taylor County High’s Ellen Kehoe might miss a few days the first week of her senior year as she will be competing at the U.S. Women’s Amateur at Nassau Country Club in Glen Cove, N.Y. the week of Aug. 4-10.
Kehoe placed third with a 72 in a sectional qualifier at Walnut Grove Country Club in Dayton, Ohio on July 10.
Kehoe, who made it to the semi-finals of the Kentucky State Amateur before losing to eventual champion Lydia Gumm on the 20th hole, begins her high school season for the Lady Cardinals in the Cardinal Classic on Saturday, Aug. 2.
• After two days of stroke play on Monday and Tuesday, Aug. 4 and 5 at the U.S. Women’s Amateur, first-round match play starts on Wednesday, Aug. 6.
Television coverage will be from 3-5 p.m. each day,  Wednesday through Sunday,  on The Golf Channel.
Emma Talley, who won three individual Kentucky High School state championships from Caldwell County and now plays at the University of Alabama, took the title in 2013.
• The Nassau CC course will be set up at 6,297 yards and is a par-70 (35-35).
• The USGA received a record 1,209 entries for this year’s 156-person field with 64 making match play.
