Kehoe advances to Women's State Am quarters

Taylor County High School senior-to-be Ellen Kehoe finished fifth in Monday qualifying with a 72 and won her first two match-play battles on Tuesday and Wednesday in the Women’s State Amateur at Lakeside Golf Course in Lexington.
Kehoe defeated Lizzie Loy 6&5 on Tuesday and bested Alison Miller 5&4 on Wednesday in the round of 16.
Quarter-final and semi-final play are slated for Thursday morning and afternoon and the championship on Friday.
Kehoe lost in the quarter-finals (round of eight) in last year’s State Am to two-time champion and 2013 runner-up Karisa Akin 1-up after winning her first two matches 8&7 and 6&4.

Ellen Kehoe finished fourth in the  Kentucky Junior PGA Championship Qualifier on June 17-18 at Bardstown Country Club-Maywood.
Kehoe finished with a 71 after shooting a 79 the first day.
Sacred Heart senior-to-be Maddie Hamilton raced out to a huge lead with a 9-under 63 the first day and concluded with a 74 to win by four shots.
Kehoe’s Lady Cardinal teammate Maddie Mason also competed in the 31-girl field.

Ellen Kehoe and the Taylor County High School girls’ and boys’ golf teams will begin their 2014 season with the Cardinal Classic on Saturday, Aug. 2 at Campbellsville Country Club.
Campbellsville C.C. is also the site of this year’s  Girls’ Regional Tournament on Monday, Sept. 29.
