Kathleen "Kathe" Carlton, 66, of Campbellsville, died at home on Friday, Aug. 12, following a brief illness.
She was the daughter of the late Howard Shank and Kay Shank.
Carlton earned a PhD from the University of Utah in 1977. From 1977 through 1988 she worked at Eastern State Hospital in Lexington, Ky. After relocating to Campbellsville in 1988, Carlton worked for Adanta Mental Health Services before beginning private practice in 1990. She served hundreds of Central Kentucky residents and their families during her years in practice and also worked for Taylor County School District for a number of years helping troubled youth.
Survivors include a son, Anthony Carlton; a daughter-in-law, Ruth Carlton; a granddaughter, Hayli Carlton; a brother-in-law, Rich Nixon; a stepmother, Hobby Shank; a stepsister, Edith Pattou; a sister, Sue Nixon; two uncles; three cousins; and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Carlton's life will take place Saturday, Oct. 8 from 1 to 4 p.m. at 521 Old Pitman Road in Campbellsville. For more information, contact Sue at email@example.com.
