Jail won't open until August

Taylor County's jail likely won't open until August, nearly three months later than originally planned.

At last week's regular Fiscal Court meeting, Magistrate James Jones told the Court that rain and other winter weather has slowed construction.

On behalf of the Court's Detention Center Committee, the Committee overseeing construction, Jones told magistrates that the completion date of the center is now expected to be Aug. 11.
