Green County (3-2) used its senior combination of running back Evan Jaggers and quarterback Weston McDermott to rack up six touchdowns and two conversions en route to a 43-0 shellacking at Campbellsville on Friday night in the annual Cow Bowl.
Jaggers’ 30-yard run started the celebration as the host Eagles kept making mistake after mistake.
“Turnovers and penalties were the story early and often,” CHS head coach Dale Estes acknowledged.
“We were moving it early and had two fumbles — one we got back and one they got.
“We had five turnovers (three fumbles and two interceptions) in the first half.
“Every time we got to moving the ball, a penalty or turnover killed us.”
The Eagles (0-4) trailed only 14-0 in the second quarter after McDermott’s conversion run followed Jaggers’ second score. CHS hit on an 82-yard pass play from Zach Durham to Arick Groves, only to see a holding penalty ruin the potential TD.
McDermott’s back-to-back tallies made it 29-0 before Jaggers went in from 67 yards out before the intermission.
Green County’s last score came in the fourth frame.
The Eagles’ schedule does not lighten as they visit Bethlehem this week before hosting Danville back on Fryrear Field on Oct. 4.
