"Anyone can be a father, but it takes someone special to be a Dad."
Maybe he read bedtime stories, planned a fishing trip or took us to that special ball game. Perhaps he helped with the dreaded algebra homework or set that curfew we didn't always agree with.
Or maybe he has lent advice or encouragement as we have become parents ourselves.
For all those things, now is the time to give thanks.
Sunday is Father's Day, and we all should set aside some time to do just that.
Some of us are lucky to still have our fathers, others have merely a memory that remains close to our hearts. Sure, most of us honor our fathers on Father's Day. But what about those special men who aren't our fathers?
What about that special coach? A favorite Sunday school teacher? What about the teacher who took the time to talk with us long after we went on to the next grade?
Regardless of the name, there are many men who have played a special part in our lives ... fathers, stepfathers, grandfathers, godfathers, uncles, cousins and even just friends who have done much to make our lives better.
Whatever his name, don't forget to honor the special man in your life this Father's Day.
