It's all Rebels as Boyle County blasts TC 57-0

-A A +A

In district opener for both squads.

By Bobby Brockman

Boyle County may not be the same team that won 47 consecutive games and five straight state titles from 1999-2003, but the Rebels are still a “polished well-oiled machine” as Taylor County will attest to after a 57-0 loss at home on Friday night.
The Rebels (4-2 with losses to undefeated powers Fort Thomas Highlands and John Hardin), scored three different ways — kick-off return, run and punt return to take a 21-0 first-quarter lead.
Boyle County showed the  spread offense much of the night, but went to the wishbone to tally their second score.
The home-standing Cardinals were even with the Rebels in first downs at 2-2, but still trailed by the three scores after run.
Taylor County, which did not accumulate another first down, could only muster double-digit gains from Blake Dudgeon (36-yard kick-off return) and Cody Newton (22-yard run), lost 10 yards on two Daulton Turpin pass completions and finished with only 23 total offensive yards.
The Cardinals (3-2) stay in their four-game district trek by visiting Marion County on Friday.
The Knights, coming off a bye week, are 2-3 with wins over Clay County and Nelson County and losses to Russell County, Southwestern Washington County.
