Taylor County fought off seven first-half three-pointers and sprinted past  home-standing Campbellsville 90-62 on Friday night in Paul J. Coop Gymnasium.
“We kept it close for awhile,” Eagles’ head coach Tim Davis. “But we made about three straight turnovers and they seemed to never miss a shot.”
Senior Zach Durham’s four three-pointers in the second quarter enabled Campbellsville to stay within striking distance at 39-32 at the intermission.
However, the Cardinals (12-4) used three Caleb Wigginton treys to increase their lead to as much as 27 in the third frame. TCHS’ lead grew to 32 on Ezra Oliver’s trey in the final period.
Taylor County shot 55 percent (26-47) for the game and were 9-14 on three-pointers.
Campbellsville hit 8-18 from behind the arc, but were 1-8 in the second half.
Wigginton hit all five of his three-point attempts to finish with a game-high 27 points and completed a double-double with 10 rebounds.
Quentin Goodin joined Wigginton in the 20-point club with an even 10 while Oliver totaled 13.
Durham led the three Eagles in double digits with 12 while Damontez Smith and A.J. Vaught had 10 apiece.
Taylor County plays at Green County on Tuesday in a girl/boy double-dip before visiting North Hardin on Friday. Campbellsville plays at Hart County on Tuesday and at Marion County on Friday in girl/boy 20th District action.
