Cardinal enter post-season with 23-6 worksheet

Taylor County fell 80-62 in an add-on game on Friday night at 25-2 Hopkinsville as coach Richard Gatewood’s squad prepped for Wednesday’s 20th District Tournament first-round game vs. Campbellsville at Marion County.
The host Tigers broke away from a 7-7 tie to lead by eight at the intermission (39-31) and increased their advantage to 20 (63-43) at the third-quarter stop.
The Cardinals (23-6) did use a 15-5 fourth-period spurt to creep within 10 (70-60) before Hoptown tallied 10 of the game’s final 12 points.
Caleb Wigginton paced TCHS with 25 points and 12 rebounds while two other Cardinals almost joined the senior with double-doubles. Quentin Goodin had 21 points and nine rebounds while Austin Webster had nine points and a like number of boards.
Hopkinsville’s seniors tallied 70 of their 80 points.
