Fighting Tigers hold off Lindsey Wilson 28-23

By Bobby Brockman

Campbellsville University head coach Perry Thomas used a pair of last first-half time-outs and the Tigers took the lead en route to a 28-23 homecoming triumph over Lindsey Wilson College on Saturday afternoon.
The Tigers (2-5) were heavily out-played, but trailed only 10-7 after a Chris Cook second-quarter score.
As LWC was running out the clock, Thomas used CU’s final two time-outs to set up a potential game-tying field goal. But, with 3.4 seconds left before intermission, Bryan Parnes found Demytreus Gipson in the right corner of the end zone for a 14-10 Tiger lead at the half.
Each team tallied two second-half touchdowns and Earl McCann’s interception of a deflected pass sealed Campbellsville’s victory on Citizens Bank Field at Finley Stadium.
The Tigers visit Cumberland (Tenn.) on Saturday (7 p.m.).
