A Campbellsville auctioneer is dead following a helicopter crash near the Kentucky/Tennessee line Monday.

According to Associated Press reports, three people were killed when a helicopter became entangled in power lines after liftoff. The crash occurred in Jamestown, Tenn., about 60 miles northwest of Knoxville.

Bobby Gene Curry, 66, of Greensburg was killed in the crash along with William Mark Shearer, 53, of Albany and the pilot, Trevor Noble, 24, of Nashville.

Curry had worked as an auctioneer for Christie Realty Co. for the past several years.

According to Margaret Christie of Christie Realty, the helicopter was taking off from an oil drilling location when the crash occurred.

Curry's death comes as a huge shock, Christie said.

"We thought a lot of him. He really had a good sense of humor. He was good natured."

Christie said Curry wore many hats. For the last four years, he conducted auctions for Christie Realty as well as some property appraisals. He was also an auctioneer in Green County and had been involved in the oil business for several years.

Christie said she learned of the crash when a friend of Curry's came by the Christie Realty office to share the news.

Obituary information will be published when it becomes available.
