Freshman Melly Heaton completed a three-point play to give Campbellsville University a three-point lead with under 30 seconds remaining as the Lady Tigers held on to win 80-76 at Indiana University Southeast on Saturday.
Campbellsville built a 17-point lead in the second half, but the Lady Grenadiers chipped away and cut it to one point, 77-76, before Heaton hit a lay-up, was fouled and made the subsequent free-throw to seal the win.
The Lady Tigers forced 30 turnovers by IU Southeast and four players tallied in double-digits for Campbellsville. Priscila Alves led the way with 17 points, all in the second half while Courtney Danis tallied 14 points, Heaton had 13 and Kristi Ensminger scored 12 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as Campbellsville improved to 12-7.
Campbellsville travels to Georgetown on Saturday at 2 p.m. for its Mid-South Conference opener.
