Green sweeps Heartland track

TCHS' Johnson, CHS' McCubbin lead local squads to second-, third-place showings.

Green County High School's boys' and girls' teams chalked up team championships in Tuesday's Heartland Athletic Conference Track and Field Meet in Lebanon.


The Lady Dragons were paced by junior Raegan Deaton's first-place efforts in the 400- and 800-meter runs and 4x400- and 4x800-meter relays.

Summer Sebastian triumphed in the shot put and discus for the GCHS girls while Baylee Shofner was first in the 1,600-meter run and Molly Frank tops in the 3,200.

Donovan Burton won the 100-meter dash and John Despain the 1,600-meter run while two Dragon relay teams placed first for the Green County boys' squad.

Taylor County's girls finished second and were led by Victoria Johnson's triumphs in the 100- and 200-meter dashes while Ashley Gilbert won the 100-meter hurdles and long jump and Kellie Niswender was first in the 300 hurdles and second in 100 and 200 dashes.

That Lady Card trio plus Winfrey Cheavront won the 4x200-meter relay.

Michael McCubbin helped spark the Campbellsville High School boys to a third-place showing by winning the 200-meter dash and 400-meter run and finishing second in the long jump.

Eagle Ricky Buckner won the 800-meter run and anchored the victorious 4x800-meter relay unit, which also consisted of Dennis Sacco, Evan Riggs and Bradley Harris.

Adair County's Andrew Willis won the 110-meter hurdles, long jump and triple jump and won on the victorious 4x100-meter relay quartet.
