Gratitude for our military men and women

-A A +A

Memorial Day is a day to remember our fallen soldiers who have sacrificed so much for their country. Since the last decade alone there have been at least 6,006 reported casualties among men and women fighting the battle on terrorism.

Fathers, mothers, sons, and daughters have all put their country first, a selfless act, in order for you and I to be able to sleep in peace. Most of us were strangers to these chosen heroes. Their valor was an innate characteristic passed down from generations; it knew of no fear, inhibitions, or shortcomings; it only knew of perseverance, dedication, and courage.

I am filled with emotions of gratitude, security and love when I think of our military men and women who put their lives on the line daily. I want to thank you all, "soldiers," for standing up for me through battle, and sacrificing so much for your country. May the memories of the fallen never fade, let the valiant souls sound with great force on the battlefields, and may your selfless acts bless you tenfold in the Kingdom of God.

"We cherish too, the Poppy red that grows on fields where valor led, it seems to signal to the skies that blood of heroes never dies" (Moina Michael).

Thank you soldiers for all you do, and a special thanks to my husband Jeffrey Moody who served in the Army with the 101st Airborne Division, 3rd Brigade Combat Team during Operation Iraqi Freedom. You are respected as a soldier, husband, father and friend and I love you.
