Quentin Goodin’s basket down the lane with 2.7 seconds left in overtime propelled Taylor County past home-standing Adair County 40-38 on Tuesday night.
Goodin’s basket with 20 seconds left in regulation had knotted the score at 36-36.
The Indians (14-7) took a 38-36 cushion on Matt Fudge’s free-throw jumper with 2:14 left in overtime.
Taylor County tied the game with single free throws by Goodin (at 34.1) and Caleb Wigginton (at 11.9) before Justice Gregory grabbed the offensive rebound to set up Goodin’s game-winner.
Wigginton had 14 points in the first half to keep the Cardinals in front 22-20.
However, Fudge and Chance Melton combined for nine of ACHS’ 11 third-period points to put the home team back on top at 31-29.

Wigginton led all scorers with 20 points while Goodin totaled 10.
Melton led the Indians with 11.
Taylor County (10-10) hosts Barren County on Saturday before visiting Russell County on Tuesday.

Taylor County missed five free throws in the game’s final two minutes and dropped a 41-40 home decision to Marion County on Friday night.
The Cardinals’ free throw woes began in the first half as they were 1-7 at the charity stripe with two of those being front ends of bonus situations.
Taylor County (9-10 overall and 2-2 against district foes) seemed to have solved its 15-foot problems as the Cardinals made 10 of their first 11 in the second half and came back from a 39-34 fourth-quarter deficit to lead 40-39 on a pair of Quentin Goodin tosses at 1:12.
Goodin finished with 20 points, but could not connect on two throws at 26.5 and 1.2 while the visiting Knights took a 41-40 cushion on Alex Smith’s lay-up and “missed free throw” at 8.5.
