Taylor County Girl Scouts hosted a cookie kick off on Friday, Jan. 11 at Campbellsville Christian Church.

This year's theme was "Make It a Hit," with a special movie star, glamorous kind of scene. Activities included mini-makeover stations for the Girl Scout stars, karaoke, crafts and cookie stacking.

This annual event helps prepare the girls for cookie sales and also reinforces the safety guidelines. By participating in cookie sales, the girls learn valuable life skills such as goal setting and business literacy. Communication skills and social skills also come into play, as the girls participate in various marketing activities which, this year, included shooting a "What's Cooking Neighbor" spot on Campbellsville University's TV 4, recording a radio ad on the Big Dawg and live radio interviews at Q-104 and K-Country.

A large portion of the proceeds stay in the area to fund educational trips and activities that are held throughout the year.
