The Nov. 19, 1914, issue of the Campbellsville newspaper featured the headline "George Al Edwards Meets His Doom."
Edwards, of Greensburg, was a well-known figure in central Kentucky during the time when Green County had no sheriff.
Edwards' story will be told in the play "The Almost True Story of George Al Edwards," which will be presented on Saturday, April 14, and Saturday, April 21, in the old courthouse in Greensburg. Performances will be at 5 and 8 p.m. EDT on each night.
Cast members include Jerry Cowherd, Alan Montgomery of Campbellsville, Sue Ferguson, Bradley Abell, Gary Ferguson, writer/director Lanny Tucker, Darrell Higgason, Jordan Abell, Angelina Alcott, Danny Jeffries, John Henderson, Louie Lyle as Edwards and Adam Abell.
Admission is $5. Students will pay $2.
