In an average month, the Taylor County Ministerial Food Pantry spends about $5,000 to help nearly 300 needy families keep food on the table. However, while the need is steady, the income is not.
Donations have dropped and the food pantry, now dangerously short of funding, is reaching out to the community.
"We get a big rush at Thanksgiving and Christmas, and then it collapses," said Ted Beam, ministerial association treasurer.
