Free diabetes classes scheduled

Several free "Living Well With Diabetes" classes have been planned at the Taylor County Health Department.

Each will provide information on healthy eating, medications, problem solving, activity and reducing health risks.

Sessions will be from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Tuesdays, March 6, 13, 20 and 27 and Tuesdays, May 1, 8, 15 and 22.

For those who would like to attend the Living Well classes at night, evening education classes will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 10, focusing on diabetes basics, and Tuesday, June 12, focusing on nutrition basics.

A graduate class/support group, for those who have completed the Living Well series of classes, will meet Wednesday, May 30, from noon to 1 p.m. The topic of discussion will be exercise.

Classes are free but pre-registration is required.

LCDHCD provides diabetes education in each of the 10 counties in the district, including Taylor.

Educators offer free comprehensive diabetes self-management classes, evening opportunities and individual education on a one-on-one basis, if needed.
