Fourth Street Live!, Louisville's premier entertainment destination, will host the 27th Annual Colgate Country Showdown Kentucky State Final.
Contestants for America's largest country music talent search and radio promotion will take the stage at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 13, and will feature a performance by rising country start, James Otto.
Annually, more than 450 radio stations across the country sponsor hometown contests, initiating the year-long talent search with more than 500 live shows. Winners of the local contests advance to their state event where the prizes include $1,000 and the opportunity to compete in one of five regional events.
The Kentucky state winner will advance to the Northeast Regional, scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 25 in Ohio at the Marietta High School Auditorium. The regional winners - from across the country - receive an all expense-paid trip to the National Final to compete for $100,000 and the coveted national title of Best New Act in Country Music.
The National Final will air nationwide, over syndicated television in March and April.
Contestants at this year's Colgate Country Showdown Kentucky State Final represent radio stations: WBRT Bardstown, WGRK Campbellsville, WKDP Corbin, WNKK Dry Ridge, WKMO Elizabethtown, WFKN Franklin, WAMZ Louisville, WBIO Owensboro and WGKY Paducah.
Kristen Willis, a junior at Taylor County High School, will represent Campbellsville.
