First Beef Day a success

'Based on the turnout we had Saturday and the feedback that we got, this could be an annual event.'

From the proper way to inject cattle to the outlook from the Kentucky Legislature, beef producers got a wide range of information from the first-ever Tri-County Beef Day on Saturday.

A joint project of the Cattlemen's Associations in Adair, Green and Taylor counties and the University of Kentucky College of Agriculture, the event attracted about 225 people.

Taking place at the Green County Cattlemen's Marketing Center, the event featured four presentations followed by a ribeye steak lunch.

John Kessler, vice-president of the Taylor County Cattlemen's Association, said the event was three months in the making. The fact that the three county cattlemen's associations combined their efforts made for a more detailed program, Kessler said.
