Down 14-7 at the half, Campbellsville University fought back to post a 35-33 home-field Mid-South Conference victory over Belhaven (Miss.) College on Saturday afternoon on Houchens Insurance Group Field at Ron Finley Stadium.

It was many of the same group of characters who had carried coach Perry Thomas' team through the first six games as Greg Fountain rushed for 197 yards and two second-half scores while freshman quarterback Ross Deaton tossed two of his three touchdown passes in the 28-point final two quarters.

Deaton connected with David Mason, Sean Thompson and Wayne Coffee on six-point passes to finish with 197 passing yards.

Trapper Williams again led the CU defense with 13 tackles while Rodney Bell had 10 hits and Trey Mayes nine.

The Tigers play at Georgetown on Saturday before hosting nationally-ranked University of the Cumberlands on Nov. 1.
