Just after midnight Saturday, a fire claimed the home and belongings of a Campbellsville family. Their pets also died.
According to Connie Wooley of the Campbellsville/Taylor County Fire Department, the E-911 Center received a call at 12:38, reporting a fire on KY 210 a mile from the LaRue County line. When firefighters arrived on the scene, they found a mobile home fully engulfed in flames.
Wooley said the property owner, Patricia Webb, was not at home at the time.
Webb's brother, John Aubrey, said his sister, her daughter Christina and grandchildren Austin and Preston live at the home and the fire claimed all of their possessions as well as the family's two pets, a dog named Lucky and a cat, Cali.
"I'm just thankful that no one was home," Aubrey said. "The loss of their pets upset the family."
He said Webb had already started Christmas shopping and was getting ready for the approaching holiday season.
The family is staying with relatives and the Red Cross is helping meet their immediate needs. Donations can be made through the Red Cross or by contacting Aubrey at (270) 734-2128.
Taylor County Fire Chief George Wilson said the fire is under investigation.
