Army National Guard Pfc. Christyn N. Landis has graduated from the automated logistical specialist advanced individual training course at Fort Lee in Petersburg, Va.

Andrew Ward of Morristown, Tenn. has been named the new director of student activities at Campbellsville University.

Kurt C. Brockman, a graduate of Taylor County High School, has completed a 10-session seminar as part of a four-year leadership project at Cumberland College.

Katelynn French, daughter of Melissa Trent and Kevin French, celebrated her third birthday with friends at Kiddieland Day Care on Nov. 18.

People of all faiths filled First Church of God on the night before Thanksgiving to jointly offer thanks during the annual community service sponsored by the Taylor County Ministerial Association.

Higher oil prices resulting from Iraq's invasion of Kuwait may cause farm production costs to increase 5 percent or more if high prices for crude oil persist.

John Kessler, a local auctioneer who is working in Lebanon and Springfield warehouses, said he has not seen any tobacco sell for less than $1.74 per pound.
