Eagles taste first win

CHS triumphs over Green 54-51.

Campbellsville hit 21 of 29 free throws and held off visiting Green County 54-51 for the Eagles’ first basketball victory of the 2011-12 season.
Freshman Damontez Smith came up huge for coach Tim Davis Eagles’ by hitting 14 of 17 charity tosses and a pair of three-pointers on the way to a 22-point night. Smith also had six rebounds and five assists in 25 minutes of action. Senior Donnell Smith added 10 points and seven rebounds for CHS, which had not won since the regular-season finale last February at Nelson County. (The Eagles’ last home win came last Feb. 15 vs. Green County.)
Alex Brunelle and Hayden Neal each had six points for CHS.
