Eagles square record with 51-44 victory over Cards

CHS scores eight of game's final nine points.

Campbellsville tallied eight of the game’s final nine points to edge visiting Taylor County 51-44 on Tuesday night.
The Eagles (1-1) took a seven-point lead early in the final frame after a Derek Taylor steal to Jaqil Taylor for a lay-up by Jordan Percell.
However, the Cardinals (1-2) knotted the score on a hoop by Tevin Webster, a free throw and lay-up by Trae Wells and a lane jumper from Chase Seaborne.
CHS used a Percell putback and a Matthew Davis steal and lay-up to take the lead for good.
Taylor Levi and Davis, who hit six three-pointers, iced the game with two charity tosses apiece.
Davis led all scorers with 28 points while Percell scored nine with 10 rebounds. Levi had eight caroms and Jaqil Taylor five assists.
Webster finished with 20 points and 17 boards for TCHS while Wells had 17 points.
The Eagles shot only 28 percent (18-64) from the field while the Cardinals committed 25 turnovers and were 3-12 plus two lane violations at the charity stripe.
Campbellsville hosts Meade County on Friday in a junior varsity/varsity doubleheader while Taylor County entertains Adair County in girl/boy action.
Eagles lose double-digit lead, 69-66 OT decision
at home to Russell County
Campbellsville led by double digits but misfired on 17 of 38 free throws and dropped a 69-65 overtime game to Russell County in the nightcap of the Domino’s Pizza Tip-Off Classic tripleheader.
Seniors Matthew Davis (21) and Jordan Percell (20) paced the Eagles while Lake Wiseman tallied 10, all in the first half, off the CHS bench.
Central Hardin came from 23 points down to beat Henderson County in the opener while Nelson County put back a missed free throw to edge Nelson County, both also in overtime, in the first two encounters.
