Bryton Taylor took the in-bounds pass and went the length of the court for the game-winning lay-up to propel Campbellsville past Taylor County 54-53 on Tuesday night.
The home-standing Cardinals had taken the lead at 53-52 on Lloyd Stotts’ down-the-lane hoop.
The Eagles (2-0), which opened the season with an overtime win over Henderson County in its own Tip-Off Classic on Saturday, led by six points (16-10) early in the second quarter.
However, the Cardinals (2-1) held two six-point advantages (28-22 and 30-24) before Myan Rice’s trey brought CHS within three (30-27) at the half.
There were two second-half ties, the last at 50-50, before the lead changed hands four times before the final horn.
Stotts led all scorers with 19 for Taylor County while Tevin Webster added 11.
Taylor (16), Matt Davis (12) and Jordan Percell (11) found double digits for Campbellsville.
