Campbellsville scored two first-quarter touchdowns and made them hold up in defeating home-standing Taylor County 14-8 in middle school football action on Thursday.
The Eagles took advantage of a Cardinal fumble after a hit by Tavon Hunter and Mike Tamez picked up the loose pigskin and sprinted 37 yards to the end zone for a 6-0 CMS cushion.
A Kendon Young interception and a personal-foul penalty set up the second Eagle score when Hunter went 12 yards around left end. Austin Hash’s conversion burst up the middle made it 14-0 with 1:07 left in the first quarter.
