Despite shooting 57 percent (30-53) from the field, Marion County dropped a 74-71 district decision to visiting Campbellsville on Friday.

CHS trailed 21-17 before going on a 13-0 run in the first half and led by as many as 11 (37-26). However, Marion County (4-9) used a 19-2 sprint of their own to gain a 51-43 advantage in the second half and led by as many as nine.

The Eagles’ 23-13 advantage regained the lead and CHS scored the final four points when Bryton Taylor connected on the baseline at :36 and Michael McCubbin blocked a shot to Thomas Downs and Taylor was fouled at 1.4.

The Eagles (7-4) placed five in double figures — Downs (15), Taylor (15), Matthew Davis (14) and reserves Chris “Pee Wee” Smith (10) and Zach Altman (10) — while the Knight starting quintet reached double digits.
