Dr. Asser El-Atfy was recently elected a Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians. El-Atfy attended the ACCP annual meeting in October, where he was officially recognized as a Fellow.
The ACCP is a not-for-profit medical society representing 16,500 members in more than 100 countries. Members include specialist physicians, allied health professionals and Ph.D.s focusing on diseases of the chest.
The ACCP has set the standard in clinical chest medicine since 1935. Specialists in pulmonology and respiratory care, sleep medicine, thoracic surgery, cardiology and critical care, ACCP members are committed to improving cardiopulmonary health worldwide. The ACCP was among the first organizations to issue warnings about the dangers of cigarette smoking.
El-Atfy is on the active medical staff at Taylor Regional Hospital and is board certified in internal medicine, pulmonology, critical care medicine and sleep medicine. He is also medical director of the TRH Sleep Center.
